Visit 2010
In early September 2008, Ross Grant, (Community Councillor), Kenneth Naismith, (Divinity
Student) and Jim Weir, (the minister from the Church) visited with our Friends at
Miki Club in Kampala and
Bezallel School, Kamuli Township, Uganda. Their Visit was
to meet with the folks in Uganda working with the Young People. We wanted to try
and find out what help was most needed and how we as a Community, might be able to
help meet some of their need. Within a few short weeks of their return we had collected
enough Equipment, Books, Clothes Shoes, Toys and Bicycles, to fill a Container.
Our Container left Aberdeen on 31st. of October 2008, and even though it took many months before it was able to finally reach it’s destination, we are happy to be able to report that it was delivered safe to our friends in Uganda.
A large part of the Vision that we have for the Project is to build upon and help strengthen the links already established between our two communities. We are at present engaged in discussions to link Riverbank Primary School Tillydrone, Aberdeen with Bezallel Preparatory School, Kamuli, Uganda.
Mr. Stephan Gesa and Pastor Fred Sempijja of Bezallel School are at present visiting
with us in Aberdeen, meeting local people. They will also be visiting the Staff and
Pupils at Riverbank Primary School to help cement our links. A group of 12 people
from Tillydrone will be travelling to Uganda to meet up with our partners and friends
from 7th -
Chocolate Quiz: The Chocolate Quiz ran by Mr. Kenny williamson on behalf of Tillydrone Vision was won by Mrs Margaret Neil. Of all the quiz papers sold, three were all correct. Mrs. Helen Copland, drew the winning entry at the Country Club on Sunday 1st November 2009. Thanks you to everyone for your support!
Tillydrone is a Community that cares and it Shows!
